Goodness I Had Great Sex in Stellenbosch
So I didn’t exactly have great sex in Stellenbosch, my friend did, and good for him. We’ve already had that chat over brunch so I won’t get into detail about his sex life. Instead, I want to talk about the broader world of online dating, especially the infamous apps that have become a new ‘thing’…
SA Fashion Week moves house: Melrose Arch makes it cool again

South African Fashion Week (SA Fashion Week) is gearing up to dazzle Johannesburg’s Melrose Arch Precinct this September.

From Thursday, 26 to Saturday 28, the Autumn/Winter ‘25 Collections will take centre stage in this vibrant locale, marking a significant move for the country’s premier designer fashion platform.

Now shifting from Midrand to Melrose Arch is smart, positioning SA Fashion Week in a more dynamic and sophisticated setting.

SA Fashion Week director, Lucilla Booyzen, announced that this year’s event will feature a novel format. In other words, the runway shows will be hosted in an exclusive, “never-used-before” space within Melrose Arch, complemented by diverse lifestyle and brand activations throughout the precinct.

A Legacy of Sustainability and Innovation

For over 27 years, SA Fashion Week has championed sustainable business models, leveraging fashion’s economic and social power. Notably, Booyzen expressed her excitement about the new partnership, highlighting Melrose Arch’s rich history and dynamic environment as the perfect backdrop for this forward-thinking venture.

Interestingly, Melrose Arch, although new to SA Fashion Week, is no stranger to high-profile fashion events. The precinct previously hosted their direct competitors, African Fashion International (AFI) Fashion Week and Paris Elle Collections, showcasing top local and international designers.

Perfect Synergy with Melrose Arch

Meanwhile, Natalie Stewart, Managing Director at Melrose Arch, emphasised the synergy between the precinct’s unique urban design and SA Fashion Week’s distinctive designer signatures. She noted that Melrose Arch’s premium lifestyle offerings – from diverse eateries and retail stores to hotels and lifestyle services – would enhance the Fashion Week experience in a secure and professionally managed environment.

Stewart also highlighted the alignment of values between Melrose Arch and SA Fashion Week, particularly in their shared commitment to sustainability. This focus on sustainable practices is important to both entities, making their collaboration more meaningful.

A Seamless Experience in a Vibrant Setting

Moreover, Khanyi Moyo, Marketing Manager at Melrose Arch, described the precinct as an ideal host for SA Fashion Week. The cobbled pavements and open-air environment create a cosmopolitan playground that aligns perfectly with the event’s focus on the future of sustainable fashion.

The double-volume basement parking will transform into a safe and spacious runway, ensuring a seamless experience without disrupting daily operations.

Moyo further remarked that the partnership between SA Fashion Week and Melrose Arch is both commercially and creatively logical. Melrose Arch’s vibrant and dynamic mixed-use precinct is unmatched locally, making it a fitting new home for SA Fashion Week.

Join the Conversation and Celebrate Fashion

The upcoming Fashion Week promises an extensive program designed to encourage widespread engagement on social media. Booyzen emphasised the importance of making the event accessible and exciting for South African consumers, inviting them to join the conversation and share in the excitement.

Melrose Arch joins a prestigious lineup of SA Fashion Week partners, including Cruz Vodka, Mr Price, Isuzu, and L’Oréal. This collaboration sets the stage for an unforgettable fashion event, blending the timeless European feel of Melrose Arch with the cutting-edge creativity of South African designers.

By all means, Only Class ZA will be front and centre, bringing you the latest updates and exclusive coverage of SA Fashion Week at Melrose Arch. This September, join us in celebrating fashion, sustainability, and innovation in one of Johannesburg’s most exciting precincts.
